The story of Goshen Cathedral is a testimony of God's faithfulness and the power of a praying community. What began as a small gathering of Celestial members in Peterborough, Ontario, has grown into the National Headquarter of the Arch Diocese of Canada.
The name "Goshen" is deeply symbolic. In the Bible, Goshen was the land of plenty where the children of Israel dwelt in Egypt. It was a place of light when darkness covered the rest of the land, a place of provision when famine struck. Our parish carries this name as a declaration of faith — that God will make this place a land of spiritual plenty, light, and provision for His people.
As the Ayo Mother Parish, Goshen Cathedral holds a special place in the hierarchy of CCC in Canada. It is the parent parish from which other parishes across the country have been nurtured and established. The responsibility of being the National Headquarter is one we carry with humility and a deep sense of duty.
Located at 441 Rubidge Street in Peterborough, our cathedral is a place where heaven meets earth every Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and during our special services. The diversity of our congregation — members from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Ghana, other West African nations, the Caribbean, and Canadian-born members — reflects the universal nature of the Celestial Church.
Our parish is active in community life as well. Through our Welfare Committee, we participate in food drives and support families in need in the Peterborough area. Our Youth Ministry engages young people in leadership development and community service. Our Women's Fellowship (Mothers-in-Celestial) provides support and spiritual guidance to families.
As we look to the future, our vision is to continue growing in faith, extending our reach within the community, and raising the next generation of Celestial worshippers who will carry the torch of the gospel.
We invite you to visit Goshen Cathedral and experience the warmth, spirituality, and family atmosphere that defines our parish. Whether you are a lifelong Celestial member or someone exploring faith for the first time, there is a place for you here.
