The Power of New Moon Services in Celestial Worship
VSE Kunle Lawal · February 15, 2026
The New Moon Service is one of the most spiritually significant gatherings in the Celestial Church of Christ. Held on the first Thursday of every month from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM, this service is a time of deep prayer, spiritual renewal, and prophetic revelation.
The observance of the New Moon has its roots in the Old Testament. In Numbers 10:10, God instructed the children of Israel: "Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings." The New Moon marked a fresh beginning, a time to seek God's face for the month ahead.
In the Celestial Church, the New Moon Service is especially important for prophets, prophetesses, dreamers, and visioneers. It is a time when the veil between the earthly and the spiritual is believed to be thin, and divine messages flow freely to God's servants.
During the service, the congregation engages in intense prayer and supplication. Hymns are sung with fervour, candles are lit, and the sanctuary is filled with the fragrance of incense and holy water — all elements that create an atmosphere of deep reverence and spiritual openness.
Many members testify to receiving powerful revelations, divine warnings, and prophetic guidance during New Moon Services. It is also a time when spiritual healing, deliverance, and breakthroughs are experienced.
At Goshen Cathedral, our New Moon Services are well attended by members who understand the spiritual value of starting each new month in God's presence. We encourage all members, especially those who are new to the faith, to attend and experience the power of God that manifests during these services.
As we gather each month under the new moon, let us come with expectant hearts, ready to receive whatever the Lord has prepared for us.
